Continuing Scuba Education A diver’s education doesn’t end with an
Open Water Certification, in fact, it is just beginning. To help divers safely
conduct dives beyond the Open Water level, we offer courses such as Advanced
Open Water, Rescue Diver and Nitrox diver. The Advanced
Open Water course is the next step after Open Water. In the Advanced course,
you will have the opportunity to experience a few different types of diving
activities and environments that you don’t get to see during entry-level
training. The course consists of five dives and our classroom is the ocean.
Some of the dives could include Deep, U/W Navigation, Night, Wreck, U/W Photo,
Drift, Multi-level and more. The choice is up to you, within reason (we can’t
do an Altitude Dive in Florida). The Advanced course can usually be completed
in two days which makes it perfect for a weekend of diving. The course can be
conducted locally, in West Palm or Jupiter, or we occasionally offer the
Advanced course during a weekend trip to Key Largo. Either way, it’s a great
way to learn about these types of dives without making the mistakes of the
trial-and-error method of learning. The Enriched
Air Diver course, usually called Nitrox, is one of our most popular courses.
Nitrox is an alternate breathing gas which more and more divers are discovering
the benefits of every day. Recreational Nitrox has an Oxygen content of
21-40%. Since the Oxygen level is higher, that means the Nitrogen level is
lower, which is where the benefits come from. Contrary to popular belief,
Nitrox is not for deep diving. The biggest benefits come within the 50-100 foot
range. Nitrox divers in these depth ranges enjoy longer bottom times, shorter
surface intervals, and a higher degree of safety in their diving due to lower
Nitrogen levels. The Nitrox course consists of a short classroom session and
a practical session including analyzing and documentation. Nitrox can be combined with Advanced Open Water for
those interested in both courses. Advanced Open
Water divers are eligible for the Rescue Diver course. The Rescue Diver course
prepares you for a variety of situations such as a diver assist or rescue,
management of an accident situation and providing first aid. The first portion
of the course consists of classroom training in areas such as diver stress,
equipment-related problems and diver first aid. The open-water portion of the
course will train you to assist a tired or panicking diver, search for, locate
and surface a missing diver as well as provide in-water artificial respiration
while transporting and removing the diver from the water. This course not only
prepares you to help others, but it really increases your confidence level as a
diver also. Do your diving interests run a little bit deeper? We offer technical training for those who are up to the challenge. Click on the link below to learn more about Technical Diving. Scuba Home | Toys | Local Dives
